I watched this video quite a few times. I read articles from news sources such USA Today, Fox News, CBS News, and The Huffington Post. I was trying to get a general feeling for what's really going on. After reading and listening over and over, I've finally come to a conclusion, albiet a poorly formed one lacking evidence and supporting information.
Everything Obama is saying sounds great, with exception of the fact that Congress left food on the table; his words bring you to the point of saying, "What's wrong with you selfish Congressmen?" And then, "What's wrong with you selfish Republicans?" According to Obama, "Republicans in Congress have dragged their feet." His speech went from being frustrated about the GOP led House of Representatives leaving to campaign rather than work on proposals that will support farmers, help veterans find jobs, and lower housing rates, to how Republicans are hindering the Congressional process.
Again, everything he says sounds respectable. But I think you have to dig deeper and really think about it. I know many people have their conspiracy theories and think the government is turning into Big Brother, but I'm thinking these Republicans must have a reason for not wanting to pass certain legislation. Obviously funding these things comes at a cost that is more than just money when our nation is already in debt. Perhaps that is a contributor.
I'm not sure where I stand. I'm great with money, but I couldn't budget a country. I like these proposals and think they should be passed... but at what cost?
